The theme of the
new Ram with rear coil springs,
handling, cornering, stability and storage. I've been a fan
of rear leaf springs for decades and considered coil springs
that most SUV's have now, as less desirable for towing. But if
you put a truck on a lift with rear leafs and move the axle,
it's surprising how much play is back there with the axle
hanging. I towed a horse trailer and a travel trailer, was
impressed with the handling.

Electricity, far from the
City … And everyone else. By: Hosspuller
Once upon a time,
horse camping meant a canvas tent to keep from getting wet and a
saddle for a pillow. Today, horse camping means a horse trailer
rig with all the features of … home. Electricity makes a
person comfortable, at home and at camp. The opposite is also
true; electricity can make a person dead, at home and at
camp. This article is about your camping rig operating on 120
volt AC current and a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI or

New Truck Repair Technology
comes to Horse Trailers
If you follow
my articles, you know how big a fan of new technology I am. At the new
Transwest Truck Trailer RV facility, is an
awesome machine called a Road Simulator. Looks kind of like a dyno, but
does use rollers to test brakes rolling resistance and balance. Transwest uses it to test all their new horse trailers so
they are ready for your roads. It can find
just a torn axle seal leaking on the brakes. It would surprise you how
many "new axles" on new trailers are over greased, limiting your trailer
brakes ability. With the kind of traffic we
pull trailers in, testing brakes becomes routine. And worn suspension

Gooseneck Easy
Coupler;
Do you know if your gooseneck coupler is
latched? Bulldog couplers are on the majority of
gooseneck trailers for decades. We've all used them and cussed them
when we have to pry the handle up to unlatch and teeter-totter our
belt buckles on the truck bedrail to reach in and get them latched or at least
hope we have them latched.
Folks tell me about what they don't like
about their trailers and gooseneck couplers are a popular complaint.
I hook and unhook my gooseneck every week, in the rain, in the snow
and in the dripping heat.

USRider Provides Safety
Tips to Reduce Tire Troubles. Getting ready to
travel involves a lot of preparation for most people.
You must plan your route, pack clothes, check the
weather, ensure that the car is road worthy, and so on.
Traveling with horses adds another set of tasks, such as
prepping the horse for shipping, packing feed and
supplies for the horse, tow vehicle maintenance, to name
a few. A critical item to check before hitting the road
is air pressure.
This applies to the tires on
your tow vehicle tires as well as those on the trailer.
“The number one reason horse owners end up on the side
of the road is tire issues,” said Mark Cole, managing
member of USRider. With its Equestrian Motor Plan,
USRider gives you peace of mind as you travel. USRider's
motor plan surpasses other roadside assistance plans by

General Motors says it is investing in a ... company that claims
its secret process could be able to make ethanol from waste in
large quantity as soon as 2010 for $1 a gallon or less,
half the cost of making gasoline. Bill Roe, CEO of 18-month-old
ethanol maker Coskata, says the company's process uses bacteria
developed at the University of Oklahoma and existing
gasification technology to generate 99.7% pure ethanol, plus
water. He says the method should leapfrog cellulosic production,
which has been seen as the next step from today's ethanol
production using corn. GM won't disclose its investment, but Roe
says it's enough to make Coskata "a speed-to-market play. I
don't think most people saw this coming," he says. "Most talk

Blue Ribbon Trailers
started manufacturing stock trailers in
Oklahoma, with the addition horse trailer
models; they quickly out grew that facility.
In order to produce a full line of horse
trailers with living quarters, Clint Leonard
decided the most cost effective means would
be to move the manufacturing to Ohio.
Suppliers were closer, with aluminum
extrusions produced less than a mile away,
rubber mats of course coming from the rubber
capital, Akron Ohio close by. This was the
perfect scenario for the hands on approach
Clint was looking for producing top of the
line trailers.
