Sunline Travel Trailers

Reviewing the Advancer 20 handicap trailer and Tran-Sport toy hauler

At the January RV show in Denver, a travel trailer stood out as unique. A new model, the Sunline Advancer 20, made for handicap. 42 inch door for starters with a wheel chair lift that folds for walk in access also. A very open floor plan with a roll in shower/bathroom. Everything is placed lower in the trailer from microwave to medicine cabinet. Optional electric leveling jacks and tongue jacks stop the electric wheelchair lift if they are not extended in case you forget. Even the sewer connection is extended to the outside with handle and extended levers. The Advancer 20 is a 6000 GVWR travel trailer 22 feet long. Light enough to tow behind most full sized, lift equipped conversion vans and SUV's. Baby boomers are retiring, Scooter sales are threw the roof, nice to know camping and RVing can be enjoyed with limited mobility.

Sunline is known for quality. Back in 1974 my brother-in law bought a new Sunline travel trailer and last summer my brother bought one. So I have heard of Sunline. Picky folks (relatives) seek out quality and then they show it to me. Started in 1964, Sunline is an experienced trailer builder. Real wood cabinets and counter tops are exceptional. The seamless shower/tub surround that extends to and is sealed at the ceiling keeps mildew out. Real china toilet with foot flush. The European design rollaway shower door with built in squeegee gives you more room in the bathroom. The ABS acrylic-lined double-bowl sink with brushed nickel high rise faucet looks rich. The sealed burner range makes for easy cleanup, who wants to work when camping.

Wheel chair lift bed goes side ways for easy entry above.  Dinette table folds. Queen size bed is sideways for easier access.

Rubber gasket separates shower from toilet so you can run a wheel chair in the bathroom, with an open wall and curtain. Microwave  below stove as are radio controls, light switches. Electric leveling jacks. Outside closet with peg board for your tools. Sewer connections have valve and handle sticking out for easy access.

Sunline Tran-Sport toy hauler

One of the hot growth trailers, as predicted, the toy hauler segment. It made sense to me to be able to take all the toys and family camping and exploring. Toy haulers are evolving fast, as folks want more features. Tran-Sport has a rear or side ramp door with an enclosed bulkhead to keep the fuel fumes and smells out of the living area. With a door into the bathroom from the garage (cargo area), you can also clean the mud off from a day of fun with your ATV's before going into the living area for some R&R. Optional folding bunk beds in the garage, are easy to drop down with room for the whole crew.

I like the mid side markers. At night you can watch the lights as you turn the corner. The Tran-Sport I used had a lockable generator compartment, actually everything was lockable from water inlet to the sewer hose door. The garage has two doors above the floor that are screened so you can vent the garage without squirrels sneaking in. The garage floor has plenty of cleats, which is important if you are trying to get as many motorcycles in as possible. I towed the Tran-Sport with a 2006 GMC HD 2500. The trailer towed easy and smooth with no sway. The smooth fiberglass siding has nice graphics and with the sport wheels, makes for a sharp looking rig.

Good looking trailer. Locking slam latches. Built in compartment for optional generator. Screened vent doors in the garage.
Greaseable hinges on the ramp door. The ramp has a flip-over diamond plate extension for easy loading. Plenty of cleats.
Folding bunk beds come down very easy. Good design. Garage speakers, remember you are on vacation. Every door is lockable even the outside shower, electric cord and sewer.
Easy to load and unload, plenty of room with the folding bunk beds. A cabinet and folding TV stand.
Shower stall is sealed all the way to the ceiling. Rollaway shower door with built in squeegee has 5 year warranty. Towel rack on the door. Diamond deck rock protection on nose. Ladder up to the luggage rack. The windows designed to use in the rain. Storage.
Deadbolt lock. Sofa is also part of the dinette and folds into a bed. Functional kitchen with acrylic-lined double-bowl sink with brushed nickel high rise faucet. The trailer is quality, more of the standard features to all Sunline's are listed at the top.
Roomy coil quilted inner spring queen bed. Under bed storage and drawers. Privacy curtain, cabinets everywhere.
