Why Not Rent a Horse Trailer?

If you're like me and use your horse trailer every month, you need to own it. But allot of trail riders, just ride in the summer or 2 to 3 times a year. Then it's like the boat story, you pay payments on it 12 months of the year but only use it 3 months in the summer.

Imagine instead of having a base stock trailer that you barely use to having a Living Quarters trailer all decked out like a Toby Keith tour bus.  I mean inside plumbing, air conditioning, plasma TV and that awesome woodwork for your families next vacation. American Horse™ Trailer Rental Inc., is a new idea that is here at the right time. The Great Recession has changed the trailer business and the way we think about trailer investment. It still makes sense if you need a trailer, but as smarter consumers, we all are thinking longer about expensive decisions. And you are probably making fewer riding trips at least for now, I know I am. Here a choice you now have to just rent a trailer to get you to the trailhead a few times. When the economy improves and fuel prices drop again, you can decide to buy or rent. You may need a small trailer for the trips to the vet, or the times when you and your friends decide on the "big trip," why not rent a 3 or 4 horse and share expenses.

Or what about this scenario, your truck needs replaced and you've outgrown your trailer. Not enough budget for a new truck and trailer payment, buy the truck you want and rent the trailer.

Same problem when you need to take your horse to the vet, horse expo or you want to go to a horse sale and don't want to depend on other people, (we know how that goes.) I know a couple of horse trailer dealers in Colorado who rent stock trailers and flatbed trailers, then sell them as used trailers in a year. That made sense to me. North American Trailer Dealers Assoc. (NATDA) has encouraged it's members to rent some of their trailers.
